 Microphone Placement Tips

  1. Take the microphone off the cart. You can place it on a chair, table, or even the floor in from of the students. Leaving the microphone on the cart can cause vibration noises or echoes that you will not hear, but your partner will. It can also block the sound and cause your audio to be muffled on the other end.

  2. Make sure the front of the microphone faces the students. Placing students "behind" the microphone will cause your audio to be muffled to your partner.

  3. It is not always necessary to have the microphone right beside the speaker. In most cases if the speaker talks slowly and clearly the microphone is sufficient for a classroom. However, if you have a soft spoken student it is beneficial to have them close to the microphone.

  4. If you have a student that has a cold, please, please do not seat them near the microphone. Otherwise wever sniffle and caugh will be hear on the remote end, and not much else.

  5. The illustration below is an example of good microphone placement.
