Do you have an idea for using videoconferencing in the classroom? Share it here. This page is a place to list your ideas, developed or undeveloped. Together we can brainstorm some great projects.

As you list your ideas, be sure and list your name and school so if someone would like to follow up with you they know who to contact.

  • Weather Exchange - 30 minute monthly or bi-monthly connection November - March/April with a school in the north. The idea is that our Texas students would get to vicariously experience Fall, Winter and Spring. - Lori Colwill, Instructional Technology

  • Literature Connections - I really, REALLY want to do some literature connections. This would be where we would create a virtual field trip related to a trade book or novel being read in the classoom. For example, after reading The Mitten, students connected with a school to learn more about the animals in the book. Other ideas:
    • Ice Bear and Little Fox
    • Stellaluna
    • Call of the Wild
    • Julie of the Wolves
    • Number the Stars
    • What books are being used in the classroom? Please add to my list - Lori Colwill, Instructional Technology

  • Where Am I? - A mystery quest-like challange practicing Latitude and Longitude skills

  • What are your ideas?

I think it would be cool to get an author or poet to work with 4th graders on writing since they take the writing TAKS and teachers are eager for anything that bumps up their writing.

The G/T department are doing The Bridge to Teribithia. Perhaps that could work with them.
